Lead Backend Engineer | Newhomesmate

Product: Newhomesmate, an AI-driven platform that connects property buyers with the best housing options and provides all the required support up until the property is bought. Founded in 2021, the team currently consists of 109 people, including product development team, marketing, inventory team, CX team, and additional experts located mostly in Ukraine, with the management/founders in Austin, TX.

Role Overview

The team is looking for a Senior/Lead Backend Engineer, someone who's not just technically savvy but also has strong leadership qualities. This role involves building our core platform, developing API services that interact directly with our customers, making sure the product infrastructure is robust and reliable.

You'll engage in designing solutions, leading architectural discussions, mentoring, project management and driving the engineering roadmap forward.

What You'll Do 🌟

• Design, develop, and maintain NewHomesMate's software applications and systems

• Perform code reviews and ensure code quality standards are met

• Contribute to the development of the engineering roadmap and ecosystem

• Lead technical design and architecture discussions, share experience with other engineers

• Participate in sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives. Contribute to tasks preparation

• Create and maintain BE specific technical documentation

• Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including product managers, designers, data quality managers, and other engineers

• Collaborate with non-engineering teams to identify and solve problems

• Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in software development to identify new opportunities

What We're Looking For 🚀

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in backend engineering, using any combination of Golang, JS/TS, and Python

• Solid experience with AWS or GCP

• Practical experience with Kubernetes

• Strong problem-solving abilities, with a knack for devising creative solutions to complex engineering challenges

• Proven leadership experience, with a focus on enhancing team technologies along with mentoring abilities, lead by example, and drive projects to successful completion

• Fluent English skills, both in writing and speaking, are essential

• A thorough approach to work, with an ability to manage broader vision and detail-oriented task
